Gazza rallies DeMbare

against Shooting Stars tomorrow seriously to help them stay focused in their Premiership title chase.
Shooting Stars will host Dynamos at Sakubva tomorrow where the Wild Boys will unveil their partnership deal with Mupfumi Tours and mark their move to Mutare, which will be their new base.
Maringwa, who is coming back from injury, believes the friendly match against Stars has come at the right time and it should be taken seriously to enable the team to work on their shortcomings.
“We are going to take the match seriously and I think it’s a good opportunity to fine-tune the team because we can’t be sitting at this stage of the league.
“We want to capitalise on this game and rectify areas where we are coming short and hopefully the players who are going to be selected will put 100 percent effort.
“The team has been playing well but it’s only the goals which are not coming and I am sure they will come soon.
“The last two, three games were good but we failed to get the much needed goals.”
Gazza also urged Dynamos supporters to keep supporting the team in their quest to win the championship.
“Supporters should not lose hope now but they should come and rally behind the team.
“We are still in the championship race and we need their support for the cause of the team.
“We have been having some injuries to some of our regular players and some of them have recovered and I am saying to the supporters let’s walk together in this journey.
“I can promise Dynamos supporters that results are coming soon and they should not abandon us at this critical stage of the season,” added Gazza.
Maringwa praised Shooting Stars for spreading the Premiership action to different parts of the country.
“I think it’s a noble idea of taking the game to different parts of the country.
“It gives an opportunity to the people of Mutare who can’t afford to travel outside their town to watch their teams in action.
“Mutare has a good atmosphere for football and I give credit to the Shooting Stars team for a job well done,” said Maringwa.
Gazza urged all residents of Mutare to come and watch Premiership action for the first time, this season, in their backyard.
Meanwhile, Mutare businessman Esau Mupfumi has cleared the air on his partnership deal with Shooting Stars and revealed that his company had come on board as the Wild Boys’ technical sponsors.
But he said he remains committed to help bring in more partners for the club.
Mupfumi last night said his transport company Mupfumi Tours, had only agreed to become Shooting Stars’ technical sponsors with the deal restricted to the club’s transport requirements.
The company, under the brand Senator, will cater for the Wild Boys transport requirements during their home games at their new base at Sakubva in Mutare.
Mupfumi said although his partnership was restricted to assisting Shooting Stars with transport, he would continue to help the Wild Boys try and secure more sponsorship deals in Mutare.
“I am already sponsoring Zimbabwe Saints and when Shooting Stars approached me for help, I said the Mutare community is starved of Premiership football and the business community there is willing to help.
“So I said I can assist them to get that support from the business community in Mutare but it must be noted that mine is a technical sponsorship related only to transport for the team.
“I will be providing Shooting Stars with transport when they travel to Mutare for their home games since the bulk of their players are in Harare.
“It is different from the deal I have with Zimbabwe Saints where we transport them to any venue,” Mupfumi said.
Shooting Stars’ chairman Lewis Matindife said their decision to switch to Sakubva would also cover even their big Premiership assignments.
“We adopted Sakubva as our new home ground and we are going to play Dynamos in a test run of our new stadium on Saturday.
“We want to bring back Premiership action to the people of Mutare, we will be playing all our home matches at Sakubva including the ones against big teams.
“The point is if we can succeed we will get the support from the people,” Matindife said.
