Chunga breaks silence

Sports Reporter
MOSES Chunga yesterday broke his silence following his unceremonious departure from Buffaloes where he felt the working environment was not conducive for success.

The former Zimbabwe international has been keeping a low profile since he ditched the army side just before the start of the season last month.

“One thing I cannot complain about is my welfare. The chairman of the club did look after me very well and I respect him so much,” said Chunga.

“But then I had people who were working under me.

“It’s the players who make me what I am and what I will be. If they are disgruntled I don’t think anything positive will come out of it.

“If I cannot inspire confidence in the players then it means it’s a lost cause. You know very well that you can’t work on a zero budget if you want to seriously compete at this level.

“I am not talking of budgets the size of How Mine, FC Platinum or Harare City.

“I have been in football for a long time and I have been in such situations. What it means is that you are going to fight relegation from day one. I am in this business to win silverware.

“I work with objectives, the short-term, medium-term and long-term and for those things to happen there must be backed by a budget.” His assistant Joseph Takaringofa has been tasked to lead the team in the interim.
