TWO leaders at Full Gospel Church of God in Warren Park 1, Harare, took their fellow church elders to court accusing them of hurling insults at them in front of other congregants during a church service.
Charles Nyambo, the deputy provincial overseer of the church, and Hebert Maguta dragged Robson Paringira and Burnet Chimuzinga to the Harare Civil Court on Wednesday seeking recourse.
The duo told the court that their fellow church mates insulted them on Sunday during a church service.
Nyambo and Maguta claimed that Paringira and Chimuzanga described them as illiterate and incapable of leading the church.
“He said that I am not educated and I am a beggar who lives in the church,” said Nyambo. “He pushed me outside the door steps at our church. It is my duty as the deputy provincial overseer to address every assembly when they face any problem.
“He called me a prostitute saying I am the one causing problems at the church.”
In their response, Paringira and Chimuzinga denied the allegations.
They argued that Nyambo wanted to lead all the subdivisions of the church, which was causing problems at the Warren Park 1 chapel.
“They should leave the church in peace. Their presence is causing problems. They should stay in Kuwadzana and we will stay in Warren Park peacefully,” said Paringira.
Magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam ordered Paringira and Chimuzinga not to insult Nyambo and Maguta.
