CHURCH PASTOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE WITH PRISON MINISTRY

A CHURCH of Christ Prison Ministries pastor is making a difference in the lives of inmates in Mashonaland West.

Pastor Stanley Shereni has been preaching for the men and women who are in prison.

“We will also do some follow ups as a way of counseling them so that they can go back into the society, not as criminals, but as people who are now rehabilitated and are now doing the right thing,” said Shereni.

“Our duty as a church is to see a free Zimbabwe, a country without serious crime.”

He has a message for those who were recently granted amnesty.

“As you go home, do the right thing. Always stay on the right path that whatever you do, nobody will take you back to prison.

“Imagine, during the time you spent in prison, your time was on hold.

“Now you are going to restart your life so you need to be really very careful in society.

“So, we are helping the former inmates to start a project so that he or she can look after his or her family.”

He urged families and relatives to accept released prisoners back into the fold.

“Those who are coming out are our brothers and sisters, regardless of what they had committed. Please accept them.

“Encourage them to live a positive life so that they will not commit the crimes again.”
