A RUSAPE man received the shock of his life when he stumbled upon his wife in a compromising position with his “alleged” best friend at an apostolic shrine in a bushy area on the outskirts of the town.
Takudzwa Darlington Nyabeza, of Vengere suburb, caught his wife, Martha Rakabopa, with his close friend, Sylvester Chapadza, in a secluded area behind the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) depot in Rusape.
The unsuspecting lovebirds were found cuddling at Madzibaba Moses’ shrine. Nyabeza was left aghast to discover that his wife had brought their two minor children along while she engaged in her clandestine shenanigans with Chapadza.
Nyabeza, who was visibly distressed, recounted his ordeal to Chief Makoni’s community court last Friday, revealing that after finding his wife and Chapadza, in a compromising position, the latter apologised, and offered to pay him US$30 monthly as compensation.
Nyabeza explained that he heard rumours about Chapadza’s shenanigans with his wife, which he found difficult to believe due to their friendship.
Determined to uncover the truth, Nyabeza devised a plan to expose the two lovebirds.
“On Saturday, around 5pm, my wife left home, heading towards the industrial area. I discreetly followed her. Chapadza then followed my wife, and they took the road leading to the GMB depot.
“My wife had our two children with her. As it started raining, they sought shelter in a nearby bushy area.
“They hugged each other and I emerged from where I was hiding, and said to him ‘Chapadza ndokutamba kwacho here?’. He said he was very sorry for his actions, offering to pay US$30 as monthly compensation. However, Chapadza refused to put the agreement in writing.
“My wife admitted being in a love relationship with Chapadza, and confessed sleeping with him three times,” he said, expressing concerns about his health status and requested that the court order all the three of them to undergo medical tests.
As for compensation, Nyabeza demanded that Chapadza pays him three

beasts for bedding his wife.
Martha confessed to the court that she was indeed romantically involved with Chapadza, revealing that they would often meet at Madzibaba Moses’ shrine.
“I was in a relationship with Chapadza, and we slept together on three occasions at Madzibaba Mozi’s shrine,” she said.
Chapadza corroborated Martha’s testimony, acknowledging his involvement with his friend’s wife.
“I admit to the allegations. It is true that Nyabeza caught us together. However, we did not hug as Martha was holding their two children at the time.
“I was indeed in love with Martha,” Chapadza confessed.
The court ruled that Chapadza’s actions were highly disrespectful, as he pursued a relationship with his friend’s wife, despite being aware of their marital status.
Chapadza’s level of disrespect was deemed extremely high, particularly given his friendship with Nyabeza, and the fact that he, and Martha engaged in intimate activities at a church shrine.
The court ordered Chapadza to pay Nyabeza three beasts as compensation for committing adultery with his wife.
Additionally, Chapadza was fined three goats for engaging in intimate activities in a bushy area, which is considered taboo.
Nyabeza and his wife were advised to undergo medical tests, and if the results are positive, Nyabeza may file a separate application against Chapadza.
Chapadza has until August 30, 2025, to pay the fine.
