City club puts jazz to the test

In an interview, manager of the club Andrew Nzombe said they were going to use Simbarashe’s performance tonight to gauge the response to the concept.

“We will use tomorrow night’s show to assess our patrons’ response to such shows. Everything will depend on how people respond and if we are happy this is something that we would develop further in the future,” he said.

Nzombe said although they have already hosted the Cool Crooners at the club, they wanted to bring in another artiste to test the viability of a weekly jazz night at the club. The Cool Crooners performed at the club in November.

“Yes we had the Cool Crooners at the club but we would like to use this latest show to assess the response.

“We want to know how people will respond before we make this a regular feature at the club,” he said.

Nzombe said he hoped the jazz nights would enjoy the same success as the Friday Reggae nights which have seen the likes of Judgment Yard and Legendary Sounds grace the club’s stages.

“The reggae nights have proved to be vastly popular and we hope that this latest initiative will follow the same route,” he said.
