City embarks on computerisation programme

Locadia Mavhudzi
Gweru City Council has embarked on a computerisation programme, training staff in all departments in a move expected to curb revenue leakages and improve accountability and transparency in business operations.

Gweru City Council public relations officer Mr Manford Gambiza said last week that a computerisation taskforce has been set up to oversee the implementation of the computerisation process.

“Training in computer skills for all levels of staff at council has so far been done. The areas that are targeted include housing data, health data and engineering records.”

Mr Gambiza said the migration from manual processes to automation was long overdue.
