THE City of Harare is opening up its annual wellness and funfair set for August 8 to external stakeholders, particularly its neighbours, at the Rowan Martin Building.
In an interview, City of Harare acting human capital director, Mr Jabulani Duve, said they have extended an invitation to Zanu PF, Rainbow Towers and TelOne and other stakeholders within their environs to be part of the programme, which had hitherto been confined to their employees and their families.
“So it’s just like an extension to the community so that they also learn this culture that we’ve embraced as City of Harare,” he said.
Mr Duve said the wellness programme would be held at the Rowan Martin Building.
“It is a central venue where all our employees coming from all over the city can converge,” he said.
“We start as early as 7 o’clock, and the event will stretch up to 5 pm. We want people to come and at the same time have health checks for non-communicable diseases such as cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol.”

Mr Duve said it is now a culture in the City of Harare that every year, they host such a funfair to promote healthy living for their employees.
“A healthy employee is highly productive because his or her mindset is focused on work,” he said.
“It is very important that their families are also checked because we realise that when a family member is not well, the employee is not focused, hence we said let’s also invite them so that they go through routine checks, and after that, I think everyone will be happy.”
