CITY Angels Travel and Tours and its employees have been implicated in a theft of trust property scam after they allegedly duped Mashrhino Sports Academy of US$14 000 that was meant for travel tickets for their team.
Leslie Simbarashe Gurajena appeared in court on his behalf, and on behalf of the company together with Evelyn Tahwa, before magistrate Apollonia Marutya.
They were released unconditionally because issues of bail didn’t arise as they were coming from home prior to their appearance in court.
Allegations are that between February and December last year, Mashrhino Sports Academy, through its executive director Alfos Mhondiwa, approached City Angels Travel and Tours intending to purchase some air tickets to Sweden for 12 passengers.
Mhondiwa made a payment of US$26 385 for the services.
However, only four air tickets were purchased and Gurajena, together with his accomplices, allegedly converted US$14 665 to their own use.
Mhondiwa made several demands for the return of the money not used but the duo became evasive, giving numerous excuses, empty promises and ignoring his calls and messages prompting him to file a police report.
The total value stolen is US$14 665 and nothing was recovered.
