A Chinese run company, Synergy Biscuits, lost biscuits worth US$250 000 to its employees who were stealing from the company.
Clayton Chitaguda appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei charged with theft of trust property.
He was remanded in custody.
The court heard that between 2013 and April this year, Chitaguda was employed as a dispatch clerk.
He allegedly connived with his accomplice Richard Musungwa and others who are at large, to steal from the company.
Chitaguda’s duties were to dispatch orders of biscuits, receive cash and returned goods on behalf of the company from the drivers and their assistants which he would hand over to the company.
Acting in connivance, they would create fictitious debtors as if the company is being owed and also inflate figures of goods returned.
The gang collected cash US$250 000 and converted the money to their own use in violation of the trust agreement.
Lancelot Mutsokoti appeared for the State.
