ALL For Climate Action (AFCA) say climate change has induced considerable harm on women’s health, rights and livelihood.
However, discussions around the effects of climate change, on women’s menstrual health, are minimal.
ZFCA hosted a workshop on environmental issues in partnership with Europe Africa Youth Network.
AFCA programme lead, Isheanesu Madembo, said people should also talk about how climate change affects women’s health.
“When people talk about the effects of climate change, they don’t speak about how it affects women in terms of menstrual health.
“Whether it’s too hot or too cold, women suffer from period pains.
“Seasonal changes take a toll on their menstrual cycles. Climate change doesn’t really directly affect women’s periods, but it results in a lot of changes that can throw menstruation cycles off balance,” he said.
