The disciplinary hearing of suspended CMED (Pvt) Ltd fuels manager Mr Brian Manjengwa, implicated in the US$3 million fuel scandal, has been postponed to September 2.
The hearing had been set for Wednesday.
“The hearing has been postponed to next week on the 2nd of September. He (Mr Manjengwa) will face the same charges,” CMED lawyer Mr Moses Kamdefwere said.
He said Mr Manjengwa had not yet filed his defence.
Mr Manjengwa declined to speak to The Herald.
“I have no comment. You can write whatever you want,” Mr Manjengwa said.
The CMED suspended Mr Manjengwa without salary and is charging him with gross unsatisfactory work performance for having failed to carry out a due diligence on the First Oil deal.
First Oil was paid US$2,7 million last year to supply CMED with fuel but has not delivered it to date.
The CMED fuel saga has sucked in the company’s managing director, Mr Davison Mhaka, who is on suspension and was expected to appear for his disciplinary hearing yesterday (Thursday).
They are both accused of conniving with three First OIL directors – Alex Mahuni, Maxwell Katunga and Alois Nyamadzawo, to defraud the firm.
National Oil Infrastructure Company chief executive officer, Wilfred Matukeni and his counterpart at Petrotrade, Tanaka Sikwila, are also implicated in the case.
The two are accused of misrepresenting to the firm that they were storing three million litres of diesel on behalf of First Oil at Msasa depot when they knew they did not have the commodity.
