Coaches back in class

UNQUALIFIED local coaches have been given an opportunity to go into class and earn coaching badges when Zifa holds Level One and Two courses at Raylton Sports Club in Bulawayo next month.

Both courses will run simultaneously starting from 3 April. The Zifa Level One, which will run for seven days, is a beginnersa�� course for coaches still cutting their teeth in the game and is pegged at $80 per participant. Coaches interested in the Zifa Level Two course will sit in class for 10 days learning the theoretical and practical aspects of the game as well as an examination for a cost of $100 per participant.

a�?Gone are the days when unqualified coaches would sit on the technical bench, be it at primary school level right up to the Premier Soccer League so we urge coaches to take up this opportunity and enrol for the two courses.

a�?Once we have a figure of the coaches that will take part in the courses, the technical director (Wilson Mutekede) will advise us who the course instructors are,a�? said Tumeliso Ndlovu, a member of the Zifa technical development committee, who is organising the Bulawayo courses.

Meanwhile, the Zifa technical development committee has reduced coaching courses fees with changes being effected this year.

There have been complaints over the fees charged by the football mother-body as exorbitant and a deterrent to most aspiring coaches to attend.
