Mthokozisi Mahlangu- a 35-year-old boarding Dean at Hillbright science college in Bulawayo will launch his debut book titled ‘When God Stands Up’ on 4 August in Bulawayo, at a venue yet to be announced.
In an interview, he said the inspiration behind the theme of the book came about while he was working at a school in South Africa where he noticed the emotional struggles that some of the students were facing.
“While I was working in South Africa I realised that many students there were suffering from anxiety, depression and other stress disorders and it was not different from here in Zimbabwe which is why I decided to write this book that would give them (students) courage and hope, and know that God will always stand for them,” he said.
He further stated that his own struggles with faith and life were a major factor of inspiration when writing the book.
Mahlangu, who works with youths on a daily basis said that he was passionate in working with teenagers especially boys as he wants them to flourish and become men that can lead in society.
“In the book I write about the different events linking them to scenarios in the bible where God intervened to assist people. Young people make mistakes in life not knowing but in the book I give them hope by preaching that God forgives.”
Furthemore, he said that he hopes that youths receive the message positively and that the book can make a change in their lives.
