THE College of Creative Arts-Africa is expected to launch its first branch in Bulawayo on Friday with its first intake set for August. According to the public relations manager for College of Creative Arts-Africa, Mr Zenzele Ndebele, the college is an affiliate of Midlands State University (MSU) and will offer two main courses, Bachelor of Arts Honours in Film and Theater Arts, and Bachelor of Science Honours in Music and Musicology.
“The college is the first in Bulawayo to offer degree programmes. It happens at a time when the government is in the process of digitalisation. Students will learn various art programmes that will enhance them to fully embrace the need to feed the nation with 100 percent local content for radio and television.”
He said the facility will focus on the practical aspect of learning which is believed to be the cornerstone in producing graduates who are ready for the industry.
“We want to specialise on the practical aspect of learning and developing our students. This will help to educate students who when they go back to industry, already have experience of what it means to be producers of music or even performing as it comes. The college will not accommodate only those with Advanced Level but everyone who needs to get a Bachelor’s degree in Arts. Those with Diplomas from any college will be welcome to further their education,” said Mr Ndebele.
He said the first intake will start in August and those who intend to join the college can apply now.
“We encourage members of the public to attend the launch that will be taking place on 24 June. This will help them to get detailed information about who we are and what is required to be enrolled at the college,” said Mr Ndebele.
