COMEDIAN Frank Chirisa is proving that his influence extends beyond the entertainment stage after being elected President-Elect of the Rotaract Club of Matopos for the 2026/2027 term.
The appointment marks another milestone in what has already been a fruitful year for the rising entertainer, who recently completed a successful Johannesburg Comedy Clubs Tour in South Africa, further raising his profile on the regional comedy circuit.
Chirisa’s election follows a steady rise through the Rotaract ranks since joining the club in 2023. Over the years, he has served in various leadership capacities, including Projects Chair, earning the confidence of fellow members through his commitment to community service and youth development.
For the upcoming term, he will serve alongside President Maziwethu Khumalo. The executive team also comprises Nontokozo Nyathi (Immediate Past President), Amanda Matonga (President Nominee), Tanaka Mahaso (Secretary), Sithabile Mafu (Treasurer), Ble Mutandwa (Projects Chair), Jacqueline Dube (Public Image Chair) and Bongiwe Ndlovu (Interact Service Chair).
Operating under Rotary International, Rotaract clubs are youth-led organisations dedicated to community service, leadership development and professional growth. Members spearhead initiatives aimed at addressing social challenges such as disease prevention, literacy improvement, conflict resolution and community empowerment.
As President-Elect, Chirisa will play a key role in supporting the club’s leadership and ensuring continuity in governance. His responsibilities will include presiding over club and board meetings in the absence of the president, assisting in the appointment of committee chairs and members, conducting club assemblies and working with the president on budgeting and financial management processes, including annual audits.
The role also requires him to help create a safe and supportive environment for youth participants while working closely with the district governor and assistant governor to ensure the club remains aligned with Rotary International’s goals and values.
For Chirisa, the appointment represents both a personal achievement and an opportunity to expand his impact beyond comedy.
“I’m excited to have risen through the ranks of Rotaract. We’re a group of young leaders who volunteer in local communities under Rotary International,” he said.
