COMEDY lovers in Harare will be ushered into the Africa Day holiday in style when The African Joker performs at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale tonight.

The Zambian prince of laughter is billed to share the stage with Uncle Bhutisi, Doc Vikela and Sipho Mercent Nyathi from Bulawayo.

The African Joker, real name Eric Mwaanga, has assured fans a night of laughter.

“I’m ready for the Harare show and I am actually on my way there,” he said in his video promotion yesterday.

Event coordinator, Bless Jeke of Proma Events, said:

“The stage is now set for The African Joker to give fans value for their money at 7 Arts on Africa Day’s eve.

“This is a show not to be missed as we want to celebrate Africa Day in style.

“As you know laughter is needed in life by people to ease their sorrows.

“Comedy is now the in-thing and I can’t wait for fans to come and merry make with us.”

Jeke, who met The African Joker in Lusaka during a show, said the tour was part of his stable’s effort to create synergies between Zambia and Zimbabwean artists.

“Zambia and Zimbabwe have a lot in common and I can’t wait for artists between the two countries to cement their relations.

“We need this as African people where we can exchange notes and celebrate the best we have between us.”
