THE Zanu-PF National Chairman, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, yesterday rounded up his campaign in Bulilima and Mangwe districts by addressing two rallies. Cde Khaya Moyo has successfully addressed 20 rallies in the two districts, which have three National Assembly constituencies. Addressing party members in Figtree and Tshankwa areas, Cde Khaya Moyo called on the communities to respect church leaders, whom he said were crucial in communities.

“We would like to thank our church pastors nationwide who have been preaching the gospel of peace and unity as we head for elections.

“We appeal to them to continue preaching the gospel of peace.  They should continue with this message as they are influential people within communities. The gospel of peace can never be over emphasised as peace is key to development,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

He urged people to respect church leaders as they had are the keepers of morals.

“We should respect and recognise our pastors for their input in preserving the nation’s moral values. They have been bestowed with a crucial role we should not overlook.

“Our African pastors are from among us and they preach relevant and practical gospel compared to foreign pastors. They know our grievances and achievements and therefore they preach a gospel applicable to our situation,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo called for the equal recognition and respect for minority groups. He called on leaders to equally involve them in development initiatives.

“Let us have respect for one another throughout the nation. Those who are regarded as minority groups should be recognised as equal members of our society as their roots are found in this country.

“This country needs a leader who will respect and recognise the existence of these groups of people and equally involve them in development programmes,” he said.

Cde Khaya Moyo applauded the people for safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.

“I would like to thank all of you who have focused on guarding our resources jealously and have remained loyal to your country. People have finally heeded the message which the revolutionary party always disseminates.

“We always say the Unity Accord was between PF-Zapu and Zanu (PF) and it was signed by their respective leaders Dr Joshua Nkomo and President Robert Mugabe. The accord was endorsed by their respective congresses and no one who is not a signatory can claim to pull out,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

He praised the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development for improving the state of major highways and main roads over the past years.

“We would like to applaud the Ministry of Transport and Zinara for a job well done in improving the state of main roads and highways such as the Bulawayo-Plumtree Road using funds collected from tollgates.

“However, we urge them to equally use these funds to develop community roads. As I speak a state of the art toll gate is being commissioned tomorrow along Bulawayo-Plumtree Road which is a sign of good work,” he said.

A number of MDC formation supporters from the two districts defected to Zanu-PF during Cde Khaya’s campaign rally.
