THE Rhythm City character Mzansi has loved to love for the past nine years is moving on.

Connie Chiume, who plays Mamokete Khuse, said it’s time to make time for other things she’s passionate about, like farming.

Rhythm City fans will have to wave her a sad farewell on Wednesday April, 20. How exactly she’ll be written out of the script is a mystery.

But a press statement from e.tv promised “dramatic and thrilling final scenes”.

A mother figure to many, Connie said: “This departure will allow me to pick up on things that were left undone.

I am grateful for the time and experience with Rhythm City and e.tv. I believe I was born to be an actress, it’s in my blood.

Parting is such sweet sorrow, and I will miss my Rhythm City family.”

Yula Quinn, Rhythm City series producer said “We’re very sad to say goodbye to Connie who has been one of the shows cornerstone characters.

The brilliance and talent she brought to the soapie, in her role as Mamokete, has been an inspiration to many.”  – Daily Sun
