BUJUMBURA. – The office of Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza has announced that the plotters of last week’s failed coup will face trial in accordance with the law, a senior official said yesterday.
“Some rumours said there would be reprisals against the family and friends of the suspects in the failed coup plot.
“This is not true. Only the suspects of the coup plot will face trial according to the Burundian law,” presidential spokesman Willy Nyamitwe said.
The suspects will be judged in line with the country’s penal code, he said. – Xinhua.
