Consumer Council of Zimbabwe in partnership with University of Zimbabwe set to launch the inaugural CCZ training academy

THE Consumer Council of Zimbabwe in partnership with the University of Zimbabwe is on Friday set to launch the inaugural CCZ training academy which is meant to equip graduates with skills on consumer protection.

In a statement, chief executive officer and director, Mrs Rosemary Mpofu said the academy will target to train ordinary consumers, business operators, entrepreneurs, marketers, front office staff on international best practices on consumer protection, empowering them with knowledge, and skills on how to conduct themselves in the marketplace.

“Consumer Council of Zimbabwe in partnership with the University of Zimbabwe is launching an inaugural CCZ training academy which will be affiliated to UZ, a higher institution renowned for its academic excellence, the academy is meant to equip graduates with skills on consumer protection,” she said.

Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mangaliso Ndlovu is billed to be guest of honour.

Ms Mpofu said the consumer watchdog successfully lobbied for the enactment of a comprehensive piece of legislation that is meant to protect consumers on the market place, Consumer Protection Act Chapter 14:44 was enacted in 2019.

The new law protects consumers of goods and services by ensuring a fair, efficient, sustainable and transparent market place.
