CONFEDERATION of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce continue to promote the adoption of Kaizen principles within Zimbabwe’s manufacturing sector to strengthen productivity, operational efficiency, quality management, and continuous improvement through practical, everyday operational changes.

Earlier this year, CZI and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce nominated Glytime Foods Zimbabwe CEO, Mr Lesley Marange to participate in the JICA Basic Kaizen Programme in Japan.

During a recent factory visit to Glytime Foods Zimbabwe CZI said it encouraging to observe several Kaizen practices already being implemented within the factory environment, including: – implementation of 5S workplace organisation principles to improve cleanliness, organisation, and workflow efficiency, use of visual management systems within production areas, standardised workflows and process organisation, waste reduction measures across operations and embedded quality control processes within production systems

“The factory’s effective use of natural lighting within production areas was also a notable operational efficiency measure, helping to reduce excessive daytime electricity usage and aligning with broader industry conversations around efficient energy management under the EELA Project being implemented by CZI in partnership with UNIDO,” said CZI.
