Musician and actress Lemoniq, born Gugulethu Moyo, has released her first project of 2026, an Afro-House single titled Going High, which dropped on May 22.

The release comes after a breakthrough year for the artist, who won the Das Deck Zeigt Open Mic competition hosted by the Zimbabwe German Society in late 2025.

Produced by Zimbabwean producer GhostZWE, also known as Ghost Magician, Going High blends modern Afro-House rhythms with traditional influences. The uplifting track encourages listeners to overcome life’s challenges, stop worrying, and trust in a brighter future.

Lemoniq said the inspiration for the song’s energy came during a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls while on vacation.
“Going High is an uplifting song that encourages people facing challenges to stop worrying because God is in control. It’s about letting go of anxiety and dancing towards a breakthrough because a brighter tomorrow is near,” she said.
She also thanked her family and collaborators for supporting her journey.

“I would like to thank my parents for supporting my dreams, my sister Ayanda for always encouraging me, GhostZWE for helping bring the vision to life, and everyone who has supported me along the way,” said Lemoniq.
The single was released alongside visuals, with Lemoniq taking creative control of the styling and costume design.

“When I was writing Going High, I already knew how I wanted the visuals to look, so it made sense to design the outfits myself. I made the headpieces with chains and spent hours sewing bead shells onto my blazer,” she said.
The former Iyasa member added that the positive response to the visuals has inspired her growing interest in fashion and hairstyling.

“Maybe one day I’ll become a hairstylist and fashion designer too. But for now, people should keep listening to Going High,” she said.
