Highfield New Camp also allegedly solicited for a bribe from the woman.
He had arrested Mrs Dorothy Tindirika (30) of Unit G, Chitungwiza for reportedly driving the wrong way down a one way lane.
Jonhera appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Mugwagwa charged with two counts of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer and indecent assault. Jonhera was remanded to August 7 for trial after denying the charges.
In his defense, Jonhera said that the charges were a fabrication.
Mrs Tindirika said Jonhera tried to kiss and fondle her when she told him that her husband was out of the country.
She said Jonhera told her that she should be having sexual feelings because her husband was not around.
Prosecutor Mr Lovert Muringwa said on August 14 last year Jonhera arrested Mrs Tindirika for contravening a section of the Road Traffic Act.
This was after Mrs Tindirika had been driving her car against the one way road sign at Makoni Shopping Centre. The court heard that Jonhera asked her to pay US$20 spot fine, but she pleaded with him to pay later since she had no money with her at the time.
When Mrs Tindirika later went to the police station to pay the fine, she was told that the matter would be settled in court.
She was accompanied by two police constables to Jonhera’s office from where she was referred to the fines desk. The constables gave Jonhera the US$20 fine and left Mrs Tindirika in his office.
Jonhera allegedly did not give Mrs Tindirika back her money, but reached for her and tried to fondle and kiss her, but she resisted.
