Cop loses documents, cash to armed robbers

A DETECTIVE was on Sunday attacked by armed robbers as he was drinking beer at a Kuwadzana bar.

Four unidentified men attacked Nicola Mutonhori and got away with his police and national identification cards and US$480.

Although police could not immediately be reached for comment, H-Metro is reliably informed that police detectives are hunting the suspects.

The case was reported at Kuwadzana Police Station.

Detective Mutonhori was reported to have been drinking beer at Guzzlers bar when the robbers pounced.

Sources at the bar said Mutonhori bought eight pints of beer and walked to his car in the car park.

“On the way to the car park, Detective Mutonhori was suddenly grabbed by the neck from behind, three more men joined in and started assaulting him.

“One of them struck the officer with an iron bar while the robbers were searching him before disappearing into the darkness,” said the source.
