A SEX scandal involving a police officer based at Bulawayo Traffic West finally caught up with him a year later after his wife and stepdaughter decided to get him arrested.

The man (37) reportedly started raping his stepdaughter (15) sometime in 2014 and his wife was informed about the sexual harassment in 2015, but swept the matter under the carpet.

Unfortunately, the scandal haunted her and in February 2016 she realised she could not handle it anymore and reported the matter to the police.

The man was arrested on rape charges and appeared before magistrate Tancy Dube who remanded him out of custody to 31 August onA $100 bail.

Circumstances of the matter are that sometime in 2014, the complainant moved from Harare to stay with her mother and stepfather.

On 6 November 2014, the complainant was home alone when the accused arrived and asked her to find his car keys in the bedroom.

When she was in the bedroom, the accused followed and pounced on her unexpectedly.

He reportedly pushed her down and pinned her before pushing her legs apart resulting in the girl screaming for help.

The accused then held her mouth before threatening to stab her to death with an Okapi knife which was part of the bunch of his keys.

He raped the complainant once without a condom.

He deflowered the girl and she started bleeding, staining the blankets and her clothes.

In a bid to cover up, he ordered the girl to bath and then wash blankets before threatening to kill her if she ever said a word to anyone.

When the complainantas mother returned, she was shocked as she found the girl washing the blankets.

Upon asking her why she was washing her blankets, she lied saying she just decided to wash.

Since the fateful day, it is reported the accused used every opportunity he got to rape the girl.

At one time when the complainantas mother had gone for a church meeting in Gokwe, the man forcibly had sex with the girl almost everyday.

In August 2015, the complainant decided to narrate her ordeal to her mother and when she asked her husband about the reports, he armed himself with an Okapi knife threatening to kill her.

The confrontations never stopped the man from his bad habit as he reportedly sent the woman to consult prophets about the girlas sickness while he remained raping her.

In February 2016, the complainant moved from Bulawayo to Mutare, but her mother was troubled about the reports and she ordered her daughter to return and they reported the issue to police.

The complainant was referred to hospital and a medical report was produced in court as exhibit.

The accused was represented by Prayer Muzvuzvu of Muzvuzvu and Associates. .
