Corporate approach to political business

 Dr Obert Moses Mpofu

POLITICS is big business all across the world. It is through politics that we are able to deliver the needs of our people. Therefore, there is a need to take politics with the utmost seriousness with which it deserves, as it is a conduit for our people’s livelihoods as well as a nation’s prosperity.

There is nothing causal about politics, it is a business much like any other and therefore it must be treated as such. The tragedy with the majority of political parties in today’s world is that they treat politics as an inconsequential side thing.

The truth could not be further from this. Failure to treat politics with the importance it deserves often results in utter failure and rejection of a political party by the masses. This is why I advocate for a business-like approach to practical politics.

There is no denying that practical politics is big business, with the people as the main investors and beneficiaries.

There is no single party I know of that takes the business approach to politics like Zanu-PF. The party’s political model is one that resembles a typical business model that has the purpose of driving our people’s agenda forward. This means that the party offices both at headquarters and across the provinces are run much like any other profitable and successful corporate entity.

This business-like approach has allowed Zanu-PF to be the colossal party it is today, capable of interacting and meeting the needs of all its clientele, which are the electorate.

There can be no denying that Zanu-PF is a party of the times. It is open-minded, modern and has a keen interest in evolving at every turn so as to meet the needs of its people. The greatest strength the party has lies in its ability to be relevant to the country’s cause at any given point in time.

Zanu-PF, throughout its entire existence, has made it a point to be relevant to the times. There can be no denying that Zanu-PF is a modern party that has endured and will continue doing so for the foreseeable future.

Zanu-PF will endure with its people as we all journey towards our nation’s prosperity. There are moments where our progress will seem slow and when things will be difficult, there is no denying that, but our resilience and sheer determination are what will push us forward in our quest to deliver what we must do for our people and deliver we shall.

There is no way we will fail our people. In spite of the attacks that we have endured for so long, we still stand and have been able to improve our economy and our people’s lives. Never in our nation’s history have we been able to develop our infrastructure at the rate that we have done since the dawn of the New Dispensation.

What we have been able to achieve is unprecedented and it is all thanks to the capable leadership of President Mnangagwa. We have changed the face of our nation in so many ways. Not only have we been able to achieve internal wins, we have also been able to achieve the impossible on the global map due to the engagement and re-engagement policy.

President Mnangagwa

Our relations with the European Union and the UK are at an all time high and we are now recognised as one of the progressive nations on the continent such that everyone now wants to interact with Zimbabwe and become part of our story as we move forward.

Indeed, progress has been made within a short span of time and more progress lies ahead. Zanu-PF clearly means business and we shall continue improving on what we must so that we achieve the most desirable outcomes for our people. We have indeed managed to pull our socks up and emerge stronger after everyone else had essentially written us off. Our resilience resulted in us re-inventing ourselves and channelling all our energy towards positive change, which has allowed our party to be in an even better position to serve our people. One of the ways in which Zanu-PF has ensured its relevance is through its professionalism.

There can be no denying the fact that Zanu-PF is a professional entity that goes beyond mere sloganeering, unlike some political outfits. Zanu-PF has managed to turn itself into the professional body it is today for optimum performance. Under the leadership of President Mnangagwa, the party has emerged as a leading corporate entity. We have managed to harness resources and channel them towards development.

Service and sacrifice have indeed been at the centre of the Zanu-PF approach to doing things. We have sacrificed a lot for our nation as a party and we will continue doing so whenever we are called upon to do so.

Any successful endeavour requires a great deal of sacrifice and we will ensure that we thrive as an entity for the benefit of our people and our nation. As we continue serving our people, let us always remember that professionalism is the way to go, and Zanu-PF is a business like any other business that seeks to make profits for its shareholders, which are the people.

Our business model is premised on attaining the best quality of life for the Zimbabwean people. Let us therefore embrace the corporate approach to political business.
