OCEANE Collection Cosmetics (OCC) yesterday gave away about $2 000 to Bulawayo agents who came out tops in best recruiting and selling categories. OCC, which is headquartered in Harare and is visible countrywide, was launched in Bulawayo in September last year with the aim to mobilise people interested in selling perfumes and in turn earn on commission. The move has provided an avenue for hundreds of people in Bulawayo to earn a living. Close to 100 people attended the event where five top recruiting agents walked away with $200 each and four from the best selling category with $150 each. Several others won $100 each.

Executive chairperson for OCC Mr Upenyu Mashangwa said he was delighted with the performance of agents in Bulawayo.

“The event was to honour people who are selling our product and also recruiting more members into the organisation. Members are not only working for us but they are also benefiting from selling the products. Each perfume is going for $12 and we say per each perfume a member sells, he/she gets $4 from it. The initiative is helping both the company and citizens at large.”

He said that five cars will be given away in December to agents who will have sold more perfumes and also recruited more people into the company. “Five cars will be awarded to best seller category in Bulawayo at the end of the year. We encourage people to join the organisation and our contact details are found on our facebook page,” said Mr Mashangwa.

He said since its inception, more than 4 000 members have joined and 15 vehicles have been given away. Agents who spoke to Sunday News praised the initiative saying it has given them an alternative to get money to start off their own businesses.

“It keeps away especially young people from sitting at home and also doing things which are not of good cause since one will now be occupied and being pushed to sell more products so that he or she gets money from it,” said Mrs Thembi Nyathi from Njube.

Meanwhile, one lucky winner from Harare yesterday walked away with a car from Africabet. The draw was held at Greens Supermarket in Bulawayo. Participants were supposed to bet on horses, soccer or dogs and the minimum participation fee was $1. Richard Magaya from Glen Norah was lucky as he won a Toyota Rav 4 vehicle. Africabet marketing manager Mrs Tarisai Chipamaunga encouraged people to continue playing as there is a big prize to be won in May.

“Our final draw is in May and the winner will get a ticket to travel to Italy so I encourage people to continue playing as they will get a chance to travel out of the country,” she said.
