Council extends night cleaning to residential areas

The City of Harare has extended night garbage clearance to residential areas.

Council embarked on a night cleaning programme to remove illegal dumping sites to harmonise waste management activities in Harare.

In a statement, council said the night cleaning schedule, which started in December, is mainly targeting the CBD.

“The City of Harare resumed night cleaning schedule late last year. Night cleaning is mainly targeting the CBD.”

Last Friday, council cleared illegal dumpsites in Budiriro 4 and 5.

Harare City Council environmental management committee chairperson, Councillor Blessing Duma, said they had resumed the clean-up exercise in all constituencies across the city for the next 25-30 days.

“Council resumes the clean-up in all constituencies across the city for the next 25-30 days.”
