WARD 12 in Mangwe has been plunged into mourning following the death of long-serving councillor Peter Stezi Ndlovu, who succumbed to prostate cancer at the age of 77.
Ndlovu, who served three terms as councillor under Mangwe Rural District Council, died on 13 August 2025 at Plumtree District Hospital. He was laid to rest on 17 August at his homestead in Macingwana Village under Chief Wasi’s jurisdiction.
Speaking at the burial, family spokesperson Village Ndlovu described him as a man who left a permanent mark. “He has been an asset in the community as well as his family. He has left a big void. As a councillor he spearheaded a lot of development projects including two clinics and a bridge,” he said.
Plumtree Mayor Alderman Similo Ndlovu also paid tribute, hailing him as a rare leader. “Peter Stezi Ndlovu was a dedicated cadre and loyal to the party. He was an astute man, very dedicated to his calling as a social worker. An upright man, a unifier, a philanthropist and a God-fearer who could work with everyone across the political divide. Ward 12 has been robbed of a man who had his people at heart and this is why the electorate kept voting for him.
It will be very difficult if not impossible to close the gap he has left,” said Alderman Ndlovu.
The late councillor is survived by his wife, Nokuthula Moyo, 13 children, 24 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
