the Amakhosi Cultural Centre will be a high of activity as hundreds of art enthusiasts are expected to throng the centre and showcase their talent in different arts genres.
Finalists and winners get the Amakhosi Golden Awards presented by the sitting mayor of Bulawayo each year as a new tradition, that was kickstarted by Mayor Thaba Moyo when he capped the finalists and winners of 2011.
The last edition saw 1 500 young performers registering to showcase what they can do on stage and a total of 17 000 Dreams to Fame fans visited the Amakhosi Cultural Centre to enjoy the popular live event series.
Executive director of Amakhosi Cultural Centre Cont Mhlanga called on young people across the country who are 19 years and below to take part in this arts initiative.
“We call upon all young people across the country below the ages of 19 years to come and register for this year’s edition.
“Registration will be free and so will be admission till the first of November when events start to attract a cover charge,” he said.
The young wannabes are expected to showcase their talent in different genres among them drama, singing, dancing, poetry and junior modelling.
Young people from outside Bulawayo interested in participating will be assisted with transport only by the Cultural Centre.
In a bid to widen its market, the Dream to Fame will this year partner with companies, organisations and individuals who can bring youths aboard to market their products.
“This year Dreams to Fame is targeting over 25 000 visitors during this summer and spring seasons. Remember children are the best people to take those handouts and product flyers into their homes, particularly when they got it from Dreams to Fame at Amakhosi Cultural Centre,” he said.
Dreams to Fame is produced and managed by Amakhosi Arts Academy students as part of their events and arts management training.
