Court orders hubby to produce payslip

A BULAWAYO man who claimed in court that he has not been paid since 2011 has been ordered to produce his payslip. Bonang Mlilo claimed that, at best he is paid $10 per month and at worst he receives nothing at all.  He was in court after Sindiso Mlilo hauled him before the court demanding $265 for maintenance for herself and their 14 year-old child.

Sindiso alleged that her husband has not been providing for his family ever since he abandoned them in 2008.
“He abandoned us in 2008 to live with another woman. I was retrenched in 2009 but he does not help pay the bills, school fees or buy food and clothes for our child. He lives with his other children but they are all grown up,” she said.

Mlilo, a graphic designer, claimed that the company stopped paying them in 2011.
“I cannot afford to pay that amount because I have not been paid since October 2011. I am only paid according to what we produce. We then share the proceeds and sometimes I get $10 a month,” said Mlilo.

Magistrate Marilyn Mutshina said his story was unbelievable and ordered him to bring his payslip to court as proof tomorrow.
“Do you expect me to believe that you have not been paid since 2011? How is it possible that you have been going to work every day without being paid? Who do you expect to take care of your child?” asked Mutshina.
