Mhondoro-Ngezi legislator Mike Gava (Zanu-PF), who is facing five counts of contravening the Firearms Act and one of kidnapping, yesterday applied for relaxation of his bail conditions saying he had a tight schedule in his job as an MP. Gava, who is being represented by lawyer Mr Douglas Chikwangwani of Jarvis Palframan Legal Practioners, appeared before Kadoma magistrate Mr Tinashe Gwazemba for routine remand.
Mr Chikwangwani asked the court to reduce the number of reporting days from daily to once every week, arguing that Gava was not a flight risk and needed more time to concentrate on his role as an MP.
In his initial bail hearing, Gava applied for reporting at a police station in Harare and not in Kadoma and that was granted.
The defence later made another application to have Gava’s car which was impounded by the police released and that was also agreed to.
