A MAN from Mangwe has been granted a protection order against his abusive wife whom he alleged was in the habit of beating and insulting him over her extramarital affairs.

Mr Morgan Moyo (46) from Madabe area said his wife Nomalanga Ndlovu (30) assaults him in the presence of their two children aged six and eight.

He said Ndlovu invites various men into their matrimonial home when he is away at work in Botswana and whenever he confronts her, she insults or assaults him.

“My wife is a violent woman and I’m afraid that she will harm me severely. She doesn’t respect me as she beats me up or even insults me in full view of our children. I work in Botswana and whenever I come back home she gives me a hard time.

“Whenever I’m away I hear that she invites different men into my homestead. These men come into my home in full view of my children. My eldest child even tells me upon my return that different men spend the night in my bedroom hut,” he said.

Mr Moyo said his wife was also in the habit of leaving their two children who are six and eight years old unattended for the whole day.

He said he had tried to confront his wife over her unruly behaviour several times but she turns violent.

Mr Moyo said efforts to engage family elders over the matter had proved fruitless.

“Your Worship I can’t stay in Botswana all the time as I have to come to my homestead and also visit my children. However, I beg this court to protect me from this violent and abusive woman,” he said.

In her response, Ndlovu denied having extra marital affairs or being an irresponsible mother. She however, did not oppose the granting of the protection order against her.
