Courtois ready to sign new Chelsea contract

Thibaut Courtois is ready to sign his new Chelsea contract after relegating Petr Cech to the substitutes’ bench.
Chelsea first offered Courtois a new five-year deal towards the end of last season while he was on loan at Atletico Madrid.
But the Belgium international refused to sign it until he was confident that he would be Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s first-choice keeper this season.

Courtois’ new contract will more than double his £30,000-a-week wages and will include clauses that will see his pay increase further once he meets various targets and milestones.

With just two years remaining on his current deal, Chelsea want 22-year-old Courtois committed to the club until 2019.
Mourinho demonstrated his faith in Courtois by handing him the Chelsea goalkeeping gloves ahead of Cech for the first Premier League game of the season against Burnley.

Courtois kept his place for the Leicester and Everton clashes, and is now confident that Mourinho will stick with him. Chelsea want him to sign his new contract by the end of this month.

Cech also has just two years to run on his contract and chose to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place until January.
The 32-year-old hopes he will be given a chance in the Champions League or Capital One Cup to prove he can still put pressure on Courtois.
Cech will reassess his future in the next transfer window and there will be no shortage of takers if he decides to leave.

Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are both keen on Cech, while Real Madrid have also been keeping an eye on his situation.
Having handed Cesar Azpilicueta a new five-year deal and with Courtois set to sign his contract, Chelsea will also look to reward Gary Cahill with an extension. —  The Telegraph.
