Courtrooms are usually places where disputes are settled, but for one woman, it became the stage for a shocking revelation — ending her seven-year cohabitation due to a toxic mix of poor intimacy and suicidal threats.

Senzakubi Mazana revealed in court that her partner, Christopher Siziba, was an alleged alcoholic who refused to seek employment.

She further stated that whenever he was intoxicated, he would threaten to take his own life.
“In the early days of our relationship, things were good, but when he started drinking heavily, our sex life became terrible.

He is always drunk. I have tried countless times to tell him to reduce his drinking, but he doesn’t listen. Instead, he accuses me of being talkative,” she said.

After outlining her grievances, Senzakubi made a bold declaration — she was leaving him.
“He never paid lobola (bride price) or introduced me to his family. For seven years, we were merely cohabiting. He didn’t contribute to rent or buy food. Every time we argued, or he came home drunk, he would threaten suicide. I fear that one day, he might actually do it in my rented home. I just want him to leave,” she said.

In response, Siziba defended himself, claiming he was employed as a gardener but earned too little to contribute financially.

“At some point, we agreed on an open relationship, but she later changed her mind,” he added. “I have nowhere else to go. Please allow me to stay just for today, and I will move out tomorrow.”
Presiding magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja granted Senzakubi a protection order, instructing Siziba not to verbally or emotionally abuse her.

He was also ordered to vacate her residence immediately.
