ZIMBABWE’S swimming sensation Kirsty Coventry has officially been named as Econet’s Brand Ambassador.
Econet Wireless Zimbabwe is Zimbabwe’s largest provider of telecommunications services, providing solutions in mobile and fixed wireless telephone, public payphones, internet access and payment solutions.

With its technological innovation and dedicated community spirit, Econet has moved beyond being just a telecommunications giant but a leader in transformation and change as we know it.

Indeed Econet is inspired to change your world and in an effort to lead this change, they have partnered with Coventry as their Brand Ambassador.

Affectionately known as “Golden Girl”, Coventry is one of the world’s most remarkable athletes. Her achievement in sport has earned her more Olympic medals than any other athlete in Africa. Already in her career, she has competed in four consecutive Olympic Games, won seven Olympic medals, broke seven world records, been nominated as the African Swimmer of the Year on five separate occasions and then her most recent tribute has seen her elected as a member on the International Olympic Committee where she will serve for an eight year term.

Not stopping there, Coventry has announced her commitment to compete in her fifth straight Olympic Games at  Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 2016.

The road has not always been easy, but Coventry’s single-minded determination has resulted in achievements beyond anyone’s wildest dream proving that you can indeed change your world.

“With all her success, Coventry remains humble, caring and honest. These values coupled with her passion for success shows the woman she is, someone who shares in the vision and values that we as a business strive to uphold.

“As a nation, we believe that a role model such as Kirsty Coventry needs all of the support that we are able to give her and as she prepares to compete in her fifth Olympic Games, we are very pleased to be able to give her our support,” Econet said in a Press statement released yesterday.

In response Coventry said: “It is very exciting for two of Zimbabwe’s leading brands to be working together to positively inspire change across our nation.

“It is a privilege and honour of which I believe we will compliment each other very well as we have very similar values however we are separate identities coming together with different strengths and from different backgrounds.

“I am sincerely appreciative for all of the support and encouragement that I have received and I believe that as we move forward together, we have a great future ahead. Thank you very much for the opportunity and I look forward to making both Econet and my country proud.”
