The tournament, which started last month, is featuring five clubs — Alexandra, Avondale, Borrowdale, Highlands and hosts City Bowling Club — in both the men and women’s events. Zimbabwe women’s skipper Craven, who is representing Highlands this year, said the level of competition was high and exciting and was she looking forward to the final.
Craven’s team have made a good name in this competition after recording five wins and only lost one match.
“The tournament is going on well and the final will be very interesting.
We have won five out of six matches and we have one more match to go against Alex where it will be good if we win.
“Last year I won the competition with other three players from Alexandra Sports Club which I used to play for before moving to Highlands Sports Club.
This time around I am hoping for the best. We have done well in all the rounds so far,” said Craven.
Alexandra B team, who are skipped by Jay Patterson, are in second place after winning four and losing two rounds of matches. However, they still have a match to play.
In the men’s section, Avondale, who are being captained by Jack Shiel, are the ones leading after winning five matches and losing once.
The defending champions in the men’s section Highlands, who have Tom Craven as their skipper, registered four wins and lost twice, and are now behind Avondale.
