CONVICTED double murderer Rodney Tongai Jindu broke down in tears as Bulawayo High Court Judge Justice Nokuthula Moyo sentenced him to two life terms for the cold-blooded killings of his close friends.
Jindu, a well-known figure in Bulawayo’s circles, shocked the nation in 2017 when he murdered Cyprian Kudzurunga and Mboneli Ncube in separate but equally horrifying attacks. First, he shot Kudzurunga in cold blood and buried his body at a plot in Burnside. Days later, he turned on Ncube—dismembering him, burning some body parts, and dumping the remains like garbage.
The High Court found the killings to be premeditated and “committed under aggravating circumstances.” The brutality of the crimes left families shattered and the public horrified.

Despite his crocodile tears in court, Jindu had earlier confessed to both murders. In 2018, he was slapped with a death sentence, which he appealed—only for the Supreme Court to uphold the conviction.
Now, in a twist of fate, Jindu will rot behind bars. As of 2025, he was on death row, one of 48 inmates awaiting execution in Zimbabwe’s prisons.
He escaped the noose when the death sentence was abolished in 2024.
Justice has spoken. The killer cries—but the nation remembers
