Crystal Methamphetamine or a�?TIKa��

Crystal Methamphetamine is known as a�?TIKa�? in Africa, which creates a false sense of happiness and well being known as a a�?rusha�? (strong feeling) of confidence, hyper activeness and energy. This is a white powder people take by snorting through the nose, injecting it with a needle or smoking.

The effects of its a�?higha�? can last from six to eight hours but can go on for twenty four hours depending on amounts taken. The first experience might involve some pleasure, but from the start, methamphetamine begins to destroy the usera��s life.

Methamphetamine is as potent as cocaine, unlike cocaine it is a man-made chemical made from amphetamine, another stimulant drug or derivatives with other chemicals to boost its potency.

Common pills for cold remedies are often used as the basis for the production of the drug, these are then mixed with chemicals such as battery acid, drain cleaner, lantern fuel and antifreeze to increase their strength.

Because of this, it is an illegal drug, and it is used by individuals of all ages as a a�?club druga�? taken while partying at night clubs or rave parties. Its common street names are ice or glass. The ingredients used makes this a very dangerous and potent drug that systematically destroys the body and can cause memory loss, aggression, psychotic behaviour and potential heart and brain damage.

Meth is also highly addictive, it burns up the bodya��s resources, creating a devastating dependence that can only be relieved by taking more of the drug. The effects of the drug is highly concentrated and many get hooked from the first time of use. Meth addiction is one of the hardest to treat and many die in its grip.

Methamphetamine usually comes in the form of a crystalline white powder that is odourless, bitter tasting and dissolves easily in water or alcohol, other colours of the powder that have now been observed are yellow-gray, orange, and pink.

Amphetamine was first made in 1887 and methamphetamine which is more potent was developed in Japan in 1919 and given to the troops to keep them awake. High doses were given to the pilots before their suicide missions.

The stages of methamphetamine addiction are as follows; there is the rush which is the initial response the abuser feels and during the rush the abusers heartbeat races and metabolism blood pressure rise, this rush can last up to thirty minutes.

The rush is followed by the HIGH commonly called the a�?shouldera�? and during this time the abuser often feels aggressively smarter and becomes argumentative, often interrupting other peoples sentences and finishing it for them. The delusional effects can result in a user becoming intensively focused on an insignificant item, such as cleaning same window several hours, this can last from four to sixteen hours.
