UNITED States-based local swimmer, Andresious Cyprianos’ exploits in the pool have seen him being named in the 2016-17 Pre-season All-Conference Teams.

The team was selected by CollegeSwimming.com and selection was based on the times of both returning and incoming swimmers (through September 1) with input from coaches and sports information contacts.

The Pace University student was part of six athletes from the college’s swimming and diving teams selected for the honour, tallying the second-most honorees in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Cyprianos last season received multiple awards and mentions after excelling in various events including clinching two silver medals at the high profile Northeast 10 Conference Championships first round held in February at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the US. The inclusion saw the former Christian Brothers pupil being featured in the Pace Chronicle, as one of Pace University’s top achievers.

Cyprianos took a silver medal in the 100m butterfly finals when he came second with a time of 49,61 seconds, which saw him setting a new Pace University record in the race, surpassing the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II qualifying time during the Conference Championships.

The former CBC pupil also bagged silver in the 400m relay medley with a time of three minutes 22,73 seconds with his Pace relay team that also included Alexander Dimcevski, Nianzhona Liu and Travis Monahan at the event.

He also won a 200-metre butterfly event, taking fifth place in the finals but his time of 1:54.02 was good enough to set a new Pace University record.

The swimmer revealed having access to a pool all year around has seen him bettering his times due to a longer training regime allowing him to train off-season eight hours a week.

Cyprianos told the publication he intends winning the gold medal in this season’s Northeast 10 Conference Championships bettering the silver he won in the previous season.
