THE restructuring of the Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (CZLWVA) has officially concluded across all seven districts of Manicaland.

The process, which was conducted in line with a nationwide initiative, was aimed at strengthening the association’s organisational structures, enhancing coordination, and ensuring effective representation at grassroots level.

In an interview, the association’s Manicaland chairman, Cde Willis Nyamande said the successful completion of the restructuring exercise marked a significant milestone in their efforts to build a more unified and effective organisation.

He said the process involved district elections that were held in various localities over the weeks.

“As the CZLWVA Manicaland Chapter, we were conducting our district elections, which is a national event happening in all provinces across Zimbabwe. As Manicaland, we managed to finalise our districts, with Zimunya-Marange being the final one last Sunday. We had a good turnout in terms of children of war veterans who participated in the election process,” said Cde Nyamande.

He added that the presence of senior party leaders and war veterans’ representatives at the final event was a clear indication of the support and recognition the association is receiving from both the ruling party, ZANU PF and Government.

“We were quite happy and pleased to have the DCC chairman for Zimunya-Marange, Cde Blessing Parirenyatwa in attendance. We also had the blessings of the vice-chairman of the Youth League, Cde Wilson Nyamande and higher board of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA), national political commissar, Cde Joel Mureremba, who were also present on Sunday. They were in full support of the elections, and we were honoured to have them with us,” he said.

Cde Nyamande said that with the internal processes now complete, the association will now turn its attention to empowering its members.

He stressed the importance of aligning the association’s vision with the national development agenda, particularly Vision 2030, which aims to transform Zimbabwe into an upper middle-income economy by the Year 2030.

“We are pleased to announce that we have concluded the restructuring exercise, and we are focusing on empowerment. We need to see that the children of war veterans, our members, are empowered economically and socially. President Mnangagwa always says that no one and no place should be left behind, and that is what we are implementing within the organisation,” he said.

He said that the newly formed district structures will enable better communication and execution of the association’s goals, especially at grassroots levels.

The association plans to roll out various community-based initiatives and income-generating projects that will uplift the livelihoods of its members.

Cde Nyamande also highlighted the association’s commitment to engaging Government ministries and development partners to support youth empowerment and capacity-building programmes.

He said they will continue to lobby for policies that address the needs of the children of liberation war heroes, and ensure that their contributions to Zimbabwe’s history are preserved and honoured.
