A MAHATSHULA woman’s stash of “herbal relief” has landed her behind bars after cops found her with a dozen sachets of dagga tucked away in her wardrobe like winter jerseys.
Priscilla Ncube (42) thought she could outsmart the law, but detectives from the Central Intelligence Department for Drugs had other plans after a tip-off led them straight to her high-as-a-kite hiding spot.
Acting on the Intel, the CID team stormed her house on 13 February around 4 PM and found her lounging solo in her bedroom.
They flashed their badges, explained their mission, and asked to search the room.
“She agreed, thinking maybe they wouldn’t find anything,” said State prosecutor Mehluli Ndlovu. But the ganja gods weren’t on her side.
Inside the wardrobe, buried under clothes and probably a prayer cloth or two, the officers discovered 12 sachets of loose dagga stashed like snacks. She was cuffed on the spot and taken in.
The next day, Zimpost weighed the weed at a total of 73 grams, with an estimated street value of ZW$2 190. Not quite Pablo Escobar levels, but enough to earn her a trip to court.
Appearing before Tredgold Magistrate Maxwell Ncube, the weed-woman was sentenced to 12 months in jail.
Luckily for her, four months were suspended, leaving her with an effective eight-month stay behind bars.
