PLAYERS in the dairy sector in Manicland province have been challenged to develop and mechanise their milk collection centres in order to boost operations and increase productivity.
Zimbabwe Farmers Union (ZFU) Manicaland provincial manager Mr Dennis Chisevure encouraged local milk producers to embrace the Transforming Zimbabwe’s Dairy Value Chain for Future Initiative programme so they become more productive.
He also encouraged them to participate in the heifer calf project being implemented under the same programme.
Early this year, the European Union (EU) gave 500 heifer calves and seven million Euros to small and medium scale dairy farmers as a way of capacitating them to boost milk production in the country after Government launched various dairy revitalisation programmes.
