Dakamela’s son Nhlanhla dies

while walking on the side of a railway track between Emakhandeni and Entumbane suburbs.
Speaking to Chronicle yesterday, Cde Dakamela said the death of his son had left him distressed and saddened.
He said his son had a hearing problem that made it difficult for him to communicate.
“He was walking along the railway track and I think the train was so close that it startled him.
“He was hit above the ankle as his leg was broken and he landed on the back of his head and died. I went to the scene of the accident because I had heard reports that he was walking on the railway track but that was not true,” said Cde Dakamela.
He described his son’s death as a tragedy that had devastated the family.
“Yesterday I was devastated because of the death of my son. After I went to the scene of the accident to find out what happened I have come to terms with his death,” he said.
Cde Dakamela said his son, who was not married, was born at Mpilo Central Hospital in 1973.
“He attended Lukhanyiso Primary School in Mpopoma and did his secondary education at Hamilton High School. He was self-employed at the time of his death,” he said.
Zanu-PF national chairman Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo has sent a condolence message to the Dakamela family.
He said the death of Nhlanhla was unfortunate and the party and the nation was in mourning with the family.
“I have learnt with utter disgust and shock of the untimely death of your son Nhlanhla Dakamela in a train accident over the weekend.
“The family are no doubt bewildered and torn apart by such a tragedy.
“The party, Zanu-PF, is with you in trying to come to terms with such a calamity,” said Ambassador Khaya Moyo in his condolence message to the Dakamela family.
He said the family should take comfort in God, as He was the one in control of every situation.
“We must accept His will and we pray that He renders you strength and staying power.
“May Nhlanhla’s soul anchor and rest in eternal peace,” said Ambassador Khaya Moyo.
Speaking about the death of Nhlanhla, Zanu-PF secretary for education and family friend, Dr Sikhanyiso Ndlovu, said he had learnt of his death with great shock and sadness.
“I received with great shock the news of the death of such a promising young man who was taken away in such a ghastly manner through a train accident.
“As a family friend I would like to extend my condolences to the Dakamela family for their loss,” said Dr Ndlovu.
He said the death of Nhlanhla had not only robbed the Dakamela family but Zanu-PF, Bulawayo and the nation as a whole.
“The Dakamelas should feel that the loss is not for them but for the party, the city and the nation as a whole.
“On behalf of the party and the Politburo we are saddened by the loss of this promising young man,” said Dr Ndlovu.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be made.
