DARING ROBBER ATTACKS, ROBS PRISONER OFFICER AT CHIKURUBI

A DARING robber attacked and robbed a prison officer at Chikurubi Prison — of all places.

Tafadzwa Finani, 26, was guarding the Chikurubi Female Prison garden at around 10am when she was attacked by an armed man. The man was armed with an iron bar and he ordered Finani to surrender her valuables or else she would be attacked.

He grabbed her by the neck and punched her twice.

She collapsed to the ground and the robber took her Samsung A03 cellphone and US$260 in cash before fleeing into the nearby bush.

Finani, who lost some front teeth in the attack, was rushed to hospital.

Harare Deputy Provincial Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery case in Chikurubi.

“The officer, who was on duty, was attacked and lost a total value of US$360,” said Ass-Insp Mapisa.
