ZIMBABWE’S Scott Vincent has managed to continue with his good start at the Golden Pilsner Zimbabwe Open when he carded a five-under trailing Louis de Jager by four shots.
De Jager is now two shots ahead of Vaughn Groenewald who is now seven under after a second round comeback
First round tier Mark Murless is tied on six under with Lyle Rowe.
Vincent said he is looking forward to tomorrow’s round and expects to impress.
“I did play well today as I managed to maintain my composure and I’m now hoping to do the same tomorrow.
“I managed some good shots hitting the green several times and only missing it once gave me the edge so I’m now looking forward to another good outing.
“Playing with seasoned players gave me courage and I’m going to learn and improve myself,” said Vincent.
Mark Williams was also in the mix as he was tied with Vincent and the seasoned Sunshine Tour campaigner was on the leader board with
Injured Marc Cayeux who has recovered from a horrific car accident achieved his goal of making the cut at his home land after a five-year absent from the tour.
De Jager had this to say after his second day lead: “The greens firmed up and speeded up much more than I expected. You had to just change a bit of your course management, play a bit more conservatively, but at the end of the day I’m happy with where I finished off today,” he said.
David Amm will win the top amateur gofer after making the cut after yesterday’s second round.
A total seven amateurs including defending champion Stuart Krog failed to make it in one of the highest cut scores at Royal since the Zimbabwe Open returned and it stood out at four over.
