Chicken Inn midfielder Danny Phiri was named the 46th Soccer Star of the Year at a banquet held here last night.

Dynamos’ Ocean Mushure was the first runner-up with Bosso’s Knox Mutizwa getting the second runner-up spot.

Castle Lager Premiership winning gaffer Joey Antipas was deservedly named the Coach of the Year after breaking Dynamos’ ruthless stronghold on the title in the last four years while at the same time ensuring that the elite league title remains within the country’s two biggest cities.

Mutizwa also scooped the Golden Boot Award with his 14 goals for Tshilamoya.

As we predicted Dynamos’ Tatenda Mukuruva was named the Young Player of the Year while Chicken Inn’s Elvis Chipezeze scooped the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

The top whistle man in the country went to Nomore Musundire with the first runner-up award going to female referee Claris Simango while Minda High School teacher Salani Ncube was named the second runner-up.

Caf Confederations Cup representatives Harare City were named the most disciplined team in the league.
