SUSPECTED human remains in an advanced state of decomposition were discovered in Nyamagoromondo Village, Nyanga, under Chief Katerere.

The discovery was made on June 16, around 7am.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed that the deceased was identified as Erick Tonderai Nyakapanga (65).

“His remains were positively identified by Richard Nyakapanga (55), after three women gathering firewood stumbled upon them at the edge of a cliff in Maswa Mountain, with the skeleton and clothing intact,” he said.

Assistant Inspector Chinyoka said Nyakapanga had left his home in the early hours of April 26, around 3am and never returned.

He had been at home with his wife, Kerina Nyawera Nyakapanga, before departing unexpectedly.
