‘Defeat not an option’

LONDON. — Wladimir Klitschko has admitted Anthony Joshua is the “biggest and strongest” fighter he has faced — but says defeat is not an option for him in London.

The former world heavyweight boxing champion landed at London’s Biggin Hill Airport ahead of Saturday night’s bout at Wembley Stadium. And the Ukrainian, who has had 68 fights since turning professional in 1996, is impressed by his opponent’s physique but warned it will be “Klitschko reloaded”.

“On Saturday night I am going to face my biggest challenger, my strongest challenge. Did you see those muscles? Did you see this guy, how dangerous he looks? What he’s capable of doing, knocking out everybody. Eighteen guys tried to conquer him, but they didn’t, and he did his job, he did it well,” the 41-year-old said.

He added: “There is nothing, even considered in my mind – that I’m not going to make it.”

Klitschko will be in his 29th world title fight against IBF champion Joshua, who is 14 years his junior. And he believes he has identified a weakness that will see him hand the Briton the first professional defeat of his career.

“We know each other, we have sparred enough rounds to know what to expect from each other.  I have seen something that I’m going to use. Yeah, you might use it, you might not use it, because at the fight night things are going to be different. It’s not a sparring session, it’s a fight night.” — Sky Sports.
